Body Foundations breaks down functional movements of daily living. It allows us to discover how to focus our attention to engage appropriate muscles for specific movements. So we can calm down the often tense and bossy muscles and engage the deeper, smaller stabilizers around the joints.
Here breathing is the first and fundamental movement preceding all others. Breath is key to core support. Without it we are essentially driving around on a flat tire.
It is an essential component to having core stability. Which is a necessary element of a pain free back.
Core stability helps to support your spine and joints so they can move freely to support better balance and ease of movement.

The movement focus in this program is activating the abdominal wall. Creating a relationship between the rib cage and the pelvis. Then we’ll add our legs and arms and challenge the relationship in different positions with gravity. The program simulates activities like walking, picking things up, pushing things and getting up off the floor.

I’m Heather Dennis and I’ve been teaching Pilates for 20 years.
It’s where I discovered a system of exercise that was intended to correct faulty movement patterns and engage the brain as much as the body.
I fell in love with Pilates. The way it focused on alignment and feeling the movements in my body. It taught me how to position my body so that necessary muscles would activate and support my joints.
It got me out of pain. So naturally I wanted to share this with others.
I have full certifications of both equipment and mat work from Stott Pilates and from the prestigious Long Beach Dance Leadership Program.
My fully equipped studio outside of Lunenburg is set up for one-to-one sessions on the Pilates Reformer, Cadillac, and Chair.
Mat-based classes are available in Bridgewater at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre and in Lunenburg at the Fitness Studio in the Community Center.
I hope you’ll fall in love with this intelligent and effective movement system.
