Hiking. Gardening. Swimming.
Getting up off the floor without strategizing first.
Without Thinking About It
If you are in or past menopause, the changes you are feeling are real. And they are significant.
Your medical system may have told you this is normal. That it is what you should expect at your age. That decline is the trajectory.
That is not the whole story.
What is happening is this. You are losing muscle mass, a condition called sarcopenia, which affects your strength, your metabolism and your resilience. Bone density is decreasing. Your vascular system is less efficient. Sleep is disrupted. Cognition can feel foggy. The nervous system runs hotter, that wired and tired feeling that won't quit.
These are real physiological changes. And movement, the right kind of movement, addresses every single one of them.
Not by fighting your body. By understanding it.
The Somatic Difference
Most fitness asks you to perform movement.
The Heather Dennis Method asks you to experience it.
That distinction is everything. Awareness of how your body moves, what it feels, where it holds and where it wants to go, is not a soft add-on to the real work. It is the real work. It is what builds the mind-body integration that makes every other change possible and lasting.
When you know your body from the inside, you stop outsourcing your authority. You stop waiting to be told what to do. You become someone who can make intelligent choices about how to care for yourself, for the rest of your life.
That is personal agency. That is what this method builds.
The future feels different when your body does. You'll stop bracing for decline and start expecting more from yourself again.
I'm Heather Dennis,
Pilates instructor, somatic movement educator, and someone who believes your body is smarter than most fitness programs give it credit for.
I've spent decades studying how bodies move, hold tension, and heal. Pilates. Yoga. Strength training. Somatic education. What ties it all together: curiosity about your body, not assumptions about what it should do.
I don't teach from a script. I watch, I listen, I adjust. When something isn't working, we figure out why—together.
My clients are women in their fifties, sixties, and seventies who are done being told to push through or slow down. They want to move well, feel strong, and trust their bodies again. That's exactly what we work on.
No judgment. No one-size-fits-all. Just smart, supportive movement, and someone in your corner.

What Clients Are Saying
Each class is built around a circulatory warm-up that gets blood and lymph moving, feeds the brain, and wakes the tissues up. From there, we move through core sense and stability work, joint-specific mobilizations for hips, knees, shoulders and feet, and resistance work that builds muscle safely in proper alignment.
That matters more than it sounds. Muscle pulls on tendon. Tendon creates mechanical tension. Mechanical tension signals bone to remodel. That is how you build bone density. Not by wishing for it. By loading the body intelligently.
We address flexibility through myofascial yoga and release. We address nervous system dysregulation through breath and somatic awareness, pulling the body out of the chronic stress response that disrupts sleep, mood and recovery.
The tools we use include Pilates balls, yoga blocks, therabands, weights and magic circles. The real work is in the cueing. It is the number one thing clients say changed everything.
Because when you truly feel what your body is doing, you stop guessing. You start knowing.
The Heather Dennis Method works because it addresses what is actually happening, not what fitness culture assumes is happening.
